If you haven't already twigged, or did not know, LGB stands for Lehmann Gross Bahn (or Lehmann Big Railway). It is built to the scale of 1/22.5 and the track gauge is 45mm. It is suitable for children from 3 years upwards and is weatherproof. The quality of LGB products is almost legendary, there is a wide variety of rolling stock based on prototypes from many countries. Unfortunately due to circumstances that the details of can be found elsewhere on the Internet, the parent company of LGB encountered financial difficulties and the LGB brand was aquired by Marklin in 2007.
Because of LGB products being weatherproof, this makes them an ideal choice for garden railways. The view below shows the LGB Zillertal Loco No 2 during some heavy snow in the Blackpool area. Even though the snow was several centimetres deep in places, after a short spell of track clearance the train ran perfectly.
